About Devassy Moolan
Devassy Moolan performed well in all the fields that he was involved with. Along with his parents, he extended the area of land for cultivation. Slowly he began to reduce the land taken for lease and started buying own land and he expanded agriculture further. In the 1970s he shifted form cultivating paddy to cash crops and also managed business in fast moving consumer goods. In order to gain more financial stability he tried to send his children abroad. Along with the help of his brothers Father Thomas and Rev Father Joseph he sent his eldest son to Saudi Arabia in 1982. However, the business in Saudi Arabia received a severe set back which affected the Family. With the help of the other members of the family, they could withstand this setback. Because of the honesty, hard work and selfless sacrifice of the parents the Moolans family was able to keep all three generations together even in this difficult situation. In 1984 Moolan Vareed passed away and it took four to five years for the family to recover from the difficult situation. In 1980 Devassy Moolan again paid more attention to agriculture and with the help of all sons of Moolan’s family started exporting business in 1989. Devassy Moolans with the help of his son Jose in India and his sons Varghese and Saju in Saudi Arabia continued to develop the business. Devassy’s son Joy joined the business after completing his studies. Although in the beginning the business was not profitable it began to flourish in the later stage.
